Youth L.E.A.D. (Leading and Educating Across Domains) is a statewide evidence-inspired prevention program that promotes youth leadership. Built on youth-empowerment, Youth LEAD is modeled on SAMHSAs Strategic Prevention Framework with an innovative approach of integrating youth-driven environmental strategies to reduce and prevention Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug (ATOD) through a peer-to-peer message.
Elder L.E.A.D. (Leading and Educating Across Domains) is a statewide Mental Health Awareness and Substance Use/Abuse Prevention initiative that is tailed to the unique needs of the senior population. This initiative is designed to address the gaps in the resources available to the senior population in Indiana. There trainings are designed to provide older adults the tools needed to assist as:
• Personal Health Advocate: Take an active role in their personal health including medication use, understanding the dangers of medication misuse/abuse, and knowing the dangers of mixing alcohol with prescription medication. Also, keeping informed and taking part in their health through asking questions, reading, utilizing community resources and communicating with health care professionals.
• Manage Emotional Changes: Knowing that there will be emotional ups and downs, how to identify these changes and resources as well as tools to manage emotions.
