WELCOME

Welcome to Geminus Corporation’s Northwest Indiana Child Care Development Fund (a child care voucher program for assisting with child care options and costs).


We service families with quality child care opportunities in Indiana’s Region 1A which includes Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter Counties. Northwest Indiana Child Care Development Fund (NWI CCDF) is a federally funded program administered under Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) and monitored by the Office of Early Childhood and Out of School Learning (OECOSL).


The Northwest Indiana Child Care Development Fund’s (NWI CCDF) mission is to assist the State of Indiana’s maximum flexibility in developing child care programs and policies that best suit the needs of children and parents.

- We promote parental choice to empower parents to make their own decision on the child care that best suits their family’s needs. - We provide consumer education information to assist parents in making informed choices. - We assist parents with child care who are trying to achieve independence from public assistance. - We assist the State of Indiana in implementing the health, safety, licensing and registration standards established by state regulations.

ABOUT US

NWI CCDF assists families with the application process required to receive financial assistance for the cost of child care. NWI CCDF assists in child care expenses for children ages 12 or younger enabling a parent to work or to continue their education either in school or in a job training program. The purpose of NWI CCDF is to: Increase availability, affordability, and quality of child care services.


- Provide families with the financial resources to locate and afford quality child care for their children. - Enhance the quality and increase the supply of child care for all families, including those who receive no direct assistance under NWI CCDF. - Provide parents with a range of options in addressing their child care needs. - Strengthen the role of the family. - Improve the quality of, and coordination among child care programs, and early childhood development programs. - Increase the availability of early childhood development, and before and after care for school age children.

SERVICE NEED A service need is defined as a reason that an applicant is away from the home which creates the need for the child to attend a daycare facility.
The applicant must be:

- Employed - Attending an accredited school/training as an undergraduate - Participating in an Impact activity

Exception:  When the household consists of two parents, if the co-applicant is disabled and that disability prevents the parent from caring for the children, the family may be eligible for child care assistance.

INCOME GUIDELINES ARE WAIVED FOR LICENSED FOSTER CARE FAMILIES

RESIDENCY
You must apply for child care assistance in the county in which you reside. .  

AGE REQUIREMENT
A child is eligible from birth to the age of 13 years of age.

A child 13-18 years old who has a special need to receive child care assistance may be eligible based on the child’s IEP for the current school year or statement from a healthcare professional which includes the child’s diagnosis. 

CITIZENSHIP
Children must be citizens of the USA or qualified (legal) aliens currently residing in Indiana.

CHILDCARE PROVIDER REQUIREMENTS The child care provider must be certified by Provider Eligibility Services (PES) 1-866-921-6623 or licensed by the State of Indiana. Providers must be entered into the State’s database as eligible to receive CCDF reimbursement with slots available for children to receive services.
