Providing suggestions for classroom activities or field trips

Cutting out items for collages, arts and craft items

Sharing ethnic recipes, traditions, songs, etc. in the classroom

Gathering materials for classroom projects

Typing siTe meeting minutes

Teaching common words in a foreign language

Making materials for use in the classroom (play dough, doll clothes, etc

Preparing packets for various site activities

Assisting the teachers in a walk outdoors, on field trip or other outdoor activities

Making phone contacts regarding special activities

Reading a story every night with your child before putting him/her to bed

Sit down and eat a meal together.  Tell your child about your day.  Ask him/her about their day.

Assisting teacher in preparing a class activity (larger or small group)

Play board games together.  Pick games that encourage counting and following directions.

Greeting children/helping with arrival routines

Stapling, folding, sorting copies

Draw pictures while talking about shapes and colors.  Encourage your child to describe his/her picture

Have you child help you prepare dinner or a snack.

Assisting children in your designated work area in classroom

Participating in the program’s annual review

While riding in a car, talk about weather and changes in seasons.

Assisting those children that need extra support during the programming time

Assisting with recruitment

Before going shopping, write with your child a list of five items you will purchase.  Say the word and letter sounds out loud.

Assist children with tooth brushing

Attendance at POLICY COUNCIL or POLICY COMMITTEE meetings.

Talk about the importance of tooth brushing.  Encourage brushing three times per day.

Assist with the various activities that occur during breakfast/lunch/ snack

Attendance at Socialization activities

Have your child help with folding the laundry.  Encourage them to match socks.
