Geminus Prevention Services aims to reduce alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other illicit drug use and promote mental health awareness among Lake County residents and throughout the State of Indiana.
We work to accomplish our mission through education and training of youths, adults, agencies and communities. We provide training, workshops, programming, and community-based coalitions for partner agencies and communities both regionally and statewide. Through community mobilization we work to build safe and healthy communities, as well as changing the current conditions that place youth at-risk for health and behavioral problems. We promote advocacy to positively change the norms of the communities we serve.
To help to ensure effectiveness, we employ evidence-based strategies in the programming we oversee. What are evidence-based strategies? They are strategies that have a clear, theoretical foundation that have been designed and evaluated using scientific methodologies. For validation purposes, findings are subject to a critical review of professional researchers and the strategies to reduce and/or prevent further use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs must produce the same desired result when duplicated in other settings.
This means that our programs are effective, time and time again.
