Mental Health Parity legislation passes; Now headed to President's pen
Mark Dombeck, Ph.D.
A quick note: Mental Health Parity legislation to force the American health insurance system to offer a similar level of benefits with regard to mental illness conditions as they do for physical health conditions has passed both the house and senate now; having been attached, pork-style, to the Wall-Street bailout bill. Now, only the president has to sign it and it will become law. I'm happy for this event, but sad that the only way it could be completed was to sneek it through as a "sweetner". More as this develops.
