L.E.A.D. Initiative
Leading and Educating Across Domains
In late 2001 the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions set out to find an organization that could create a statewide network of youth prevention leaders. Geminus Corporation, along with several Indiana Boys & Girls Clubs and the Indiana Youth Services Association, were up to the challenge - and the LEAD Initiative was created. The goal of the program is to strengthen youth leadership across Indiana by providing opportunities for youth including training, resources, and networking. The website is designed to give people an understanding of the LEAD Initiative as well as serve as a communication tool for LEAD Initiative participating agencies.
The LEAD Initiative was designed to:
-
Develop a Network of youth leaders to facilitate prevention programming to their peers
-
Enhance current leadership programs with more effective prevention strategies
-
Increase the use of youth leaders in Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Prevention (ATOD) programming.
-
Reach communities throughout Indiana by integrating youth into the Indiana prevention system
-
Reduce ATOD use among youth
