Our Goals 

The family is traditionally seen as the basic foundation of society. Children tend to do best when raised within their family.

Our goal is two-fold; to prevent the unnecessary separation of children from their families, and/or to assist with the reunification process. We do this by identifying family problems, assisting families in resolving their problems, and assisting families with accessing pertinent resources.

We strive to:

• Strengthen families' level of functioning
• Respect the families' right to their own self-determinatino
• Design individualized plan of care for each family member

Families are involved as a full partner. Each family is expected to take responsibility for its own future. We work with strengths of the families to resolve their problems and to address their needs.

We respect each family's traditions and values. We aim to understand the families' culture, while always remembering that a child's health and safety is paramount.

The primary focus of intervention is the family system, understanding that the actions of an individual may impact on another and/or the family as a whole. We understand when the family shows positive growth and progress, the risk of maltreatment will diminish or be eliminated.

Our workers and family partners work together to design interventions which provide safety, well-being and permanency of the child. This is achieved through interventions which prevent recurrence of abuse or neglect, resolution of problems which brought the family to the attention of DCS/probation, and strengthening and better perparing the family to fulfill its own needs.
